FRICCIONES: CRÓNICAS DE UN VIAJE DE ARQUITECTURA

The term traveling refers to the act of moving from one place to another. Crossing, however, implies passing through a boundary and venturing into the other, leaving behind what is familiar. This applies both to places we have experienced firsthand and to those we have explored through study, which remain in our minds in an abstract form. The practice of crossing inevitably leads to questioning the very foundations upon which the architectural discourse has been built. In this context, the Architecture Journey embodies the notion of crossing, where permanence dissolves and translation emerges—between places as well as between ideas. In the Architecture Journey, the individual dissolves into the collective: a private bedroom becomes a shared space, and an airport waiting lounge turns into a place of encounter—even in its most intimate form. The boundaries between public and private are increasingly blurred, and programmatic categories are being redefined. One abandons the role of student or young architect to become a foreigner in constant movement, crossing not only political but also cultural borders, infiltrating territories where legal frameworks shift weekly and habitual rights may be questioned or even invalidated. This series of chronicles intertwines the author’s personal experience—the frictions, impacts, and encounters he underwent—with the cultural and political dimensions of the cities explored throughout the Architecture Journey.
