FRICCIONES
INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF LEARNING EXCHANGE
Fricciones was a horizontal event designed to foster debates beyond the hierarchical protocols dominating traditional academic structures. As an open process, the curatorial team organized workshops, calls, and reading seminars over the course of a year, establishing the event’s theoretical and structural foundation. We facilitated mediation and negotiation between participants, evaluated proposals, managed resources, and developed communication strategies, including the event’s graphic identity. We launched an open call for critical papers and experiences, inviting submissions in two formats centered on frictions in learning across eight categories. These submissions shaped the event’s format, with talks focusing on underexplored topics and proposed experiences forming the basis for scheduled activities.
NON-CONGRESS

Edumeet is an initiative of the Department of Architectural Projects at ETSAM-UPM, which, in collaboration with Javeriana University in Bogotá, had previously held two editions. It is a process that began in October 2021 and reached its peak on September 23–24, 2022, featuring conversation tables, workshops, drifts, and many other forms of learning. During the process, we launched an OPEN CALL for critical papers and experiences. The submissions received served as the primary input for shaping the event’s format. The TALKS were defined based on the critical papers received, while the ACTIVITIES were based on the experiences, aiming to focus on topics that had received less attention from participants, ensuring that all categories were covered.

#Global Project
We carried out a comprehensive communication project, designing the website, social media platforms, and event catalog, which included the program, summaries of the open call, and a description of the creation process of this global project, highlighting the challenges of each stage. We also wrote the website code ourselves—after all, if you want to communicate, you have to master all languages!

VIIXI is the group of students enrolled in the seventh edition of the Master in Architectural Communication. A heterogeneous group, made up of professionals from the arts, architecture, design, advertising and politics. We work collectively, producing -more than objects- processes. Continuous, hybrid, open, multidimensional and transscalar processes, such as Fricciones.
